Intro Blog Post: Tender Loving Pawz

Welcome to the Tender Loving Pawz’s Pet Blog!

We’re the relaxed and laid-back type of people and want to be as informal as possible, so you can also refer to us as “TLP,” okay? Good!

How are you?! Hopefully, you’re doing great, and we hope to have you around for the long run – 😉

We’re so excited to have you join us – thank you for taking time out of your day to learn more about who we are and how we plan to act as your pet care resource.

Who Are We?

Who are the people behind Tender Loving Pawz?

We are Nedjy and Keith – co-founders and husband and wife duo. We love animals- specifically dogs- but we have enough love to share with all the animals. Just know that Nedjy isn’t the biggest fan of reptiles.

We also have two wonderful school-aged kids, both of whom love animals immensely – a family of animal lovers over here!

We are fun, FUNNY, kind-hearted, laid-back, and good-natured folks. We pride ourselves on being dependable and reliable.

Wondering if we run this business full-time? We wish! We both still have our 9-5 jobs. We’ve afforded the ability to run this pet-sitting business smoothly due to our flexible work schedules.

If you’d like to learn more about us, head over to the About Us section of our site to learn more about who we are.

Pet Boarding, Doggy Daycare, Dog Walks, and More.

If you are local and are looking for a dog, cat, or small pet boarding business near you, you’ve reached the right place. Learn more about our pet care processes by visiting the Services section of our site.

We’re members of the Association of Professional United Pet Sitters and plan to add more certifications. We want to give the best service and care for our customers.

And for those who are not local, there will be plenty of information on all things pets on the blog.

Our Experiences with Dogs and Cats

Our experience with dogs, cats, and other small animals spans over 30 years – LITERALLY!

As a child, Nedjy had a sweet mixed-breed pup named Mickey. He was a big boy, mixed with German Shepherd and Doberman bloodlines. He lived an incredible 13 -years before being put down in 2010.

Keith has owned two British Shorthair cats and has a fair share of overall cat knowledge. We’ve boarded a few, too.

Our Pets

At one point, we owned two dogs – Sammy and Pepper. However, we sadly lost Pepper this past August (2022). It was a hard time for us since Pepper had been a part of our family for over ten years!

Pepper was our male, standard-sized schnauzer we adopted from Jersey Animal Coalition Shelter, a no-kill animal shelter in South Orange, NJ, in 2011. This shelter has since closed its doors.

Sammy is our male poodle-terrier mixed breed dog. He was also rescued. Only this time, it was a kill shelter – the Associated Humane Societies located in Newark, NJ.

When Tender Loving Pawz first launched this past May, Sammy and Pepper joined us for the excitement. You can tell that they both enjoyed having new friends come by to keep them company, and often!

We’re so glad Pepper had the opportunity to have that excitement for the last few months of his life. 💕

We know that Pepper is at the Rainbow Bridge chasing squirrels and geese.

We do miss and think of Pepper often. Memories of him will last with us forever. We plan to discuss grieving a lost pet in the future. We encourage those who have also lost a pet to join in on this discussion.

Our Experience with Small Animals

As mentioned before, we are no strangers to small or pocket pets. We also had rabbits as pets.

Rabbits were a big part of Nedjy’s childhood. Her father would get them from his friend at work and bring them back to their forever home.  🐰

Nedjy helped her pops build a cage from scratch, helped provide them with water and food, and nurtured them throughout their lives. That’s some good experience right there.

Keith also had a pet rabbit as a child named Freddy.

Unsurprisingly, when we decided to add a pet rabbit to our family in 2014, our excellent handling of this rabbit was nothing new.

But wait, there’s more…

Since then, we’ve added an additional rabbit, a beta fish, and two long-haired hamsters!

While we no longer own these pocket pets, we gained a great deal of experience properly caring for these animals. We cannot wait to share our knowledge.
